White Female, Born November 9, 1955 The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of State Fire Marshal and Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the arson and the homicide of RUTH ANN CHASON, on the night of January 10, 2001, in Sopchoppy, Florida. On the evening of January 10, a caller reported a house fire to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office. Firefighters worked throughout the night to put the fire out and discovered Chason’s body early the next morning on January 11. Initially no foul play was suspected, however, after receiving the autopsy report, investigators learned that Chason died prior to the fire. Following numerous leads, investigators learned that a vehicle, possibly some type of pickup truck (no further description), was seen leaving the crime scene at approximately 9:45 p.m., on the night of the fire. The vehicle pulled out of Chason Road onto Smith Creek Road, CR 375 and headed toward Highway 20. Chason was last seen leaving church shortly after 9:00 p.m., on the night of January 10.
