Case Data

Two years after a Golden Gate Estates woman is found brutally murdered in her own home, tips have stopped coming in, and the case is growing cold. Now, family members and the Collier County Sheriff's Office are making another plea for your help.

Saturday marks two years since Barbara Bisram was found dead. To this day, no arrests have been made and no suspects named, but the detective at the lead of this investigation believes Bisram knew her killer.

"I think it was somebody that knew her. I don't think it was somebody, that was coming down the street and picked this house out, and said I'm gonna break into this house, because there's no evidence of that," Detective Ray Wilkinson says.

Barbara Bisram's son's girlfriend went to the house to check on Barbara after she had not been heard from in two days. Detectives say she found the back door slightly open and called deputies to investigator. Inside, they found Bisram's badly beaten body. She was dead.

Barbara's sister says the news was shocking.

"There's nothing she could've or would've done to cause someone to do that to her," Elaine Lynaugh says from her Vermont home.

Detectives found no signs of forced entry, and Detective Wilkinson says Bisram wouldn't let a stranger in. He believes the killer could be a family member or friend.

While the clues are drying up two years later, he's not giving up.

"It sits on my desk. Its there, I'm always looking at it, trying to figure out if there's something I missed. Something out there that somebody knows," he says.

Det. Wilkinson feels he's reached a plateau, but he won't call the case cold, yet.

"She didn't deserve to die for sure not in this way. I feel really kinda close to this case. I really think there are somebody out there that has information about this," he explains.

Bisram's family feels the same.

"We're still waiting, and we're still hoping, that whoever did this will be found and brought to justice," Lynaugh says.

Bisram's family and Detective Wilkinson say even the smallest clue can help. They urge anyone that knows anything to come forward, so they can put this nightmare to rest.

Someone knows exactly what happened. What have you heard?

As a student in Orlando, Florida I believe a good place to do a bit of an audit would be at the UCF Police Department. I have personally been hounded many times while on campus and often wonder how often my information is put through different LEO databases based on my encounters. While I respect the Police and the work they do I believe that they over almost all others have to have some kind of oversight.

She watched as her Son was brutalized beyondall comprehension. I am a mother, and I have sons. I cannot even begin to feel the pain of Mary as she watch the joy of her life tortured and murdered. She must have found some solice in knowing this was all the Father's plan, but yet she was a human being. There are so many facets to being a Christian and too many lessons for one lifetime, but today I felt a bit of what Mary means to us all and what unconditional love and obedience is.What a sacrifice! What a lesson! Happy and Blessed Easter
